Craft CMS vs Webflow
For an agency-supported business website, we favor Craft CMS. Editors can build pages quickly from approved components while the team retains control over content relationships, integrations, and hosting. Webflow remains compelling for design-led teams, and its native AI tools are ahead of Craft’s. Those strengths do not automatically make it the better business CMS.

Craft CMS leads for this brief.
100 points allocated by business priority. Ties split the points.
We score websites built and supported by an agency, with editors working inside an approved design system. These are our recommendations for that brief, not product quality ratings.
How we scorePublishing and brand controlWinner: Craft CMS20-point priorityCraft gives marketers reusable page components without making them responsible for design.
We build Matrix fields around approved sections, useful field labels, validation, and preview. Editors can assemble campaign pages without changing typography or breaking layouts. Webflow also has roles and publishing controls; it is not inherently ungoverned. Our Craft edge is the focused handoff to a marketing team, rather than the freedom available to a designer.
Content architectureWinner: Craft CMS15-point priorityCraft gives complex relationships and shared content more room to grow.
Webflow’s Collections work well for many marketing sites. With Craft entries, we can tailor interconnected services, locations, people, and content reuse without making the plan’s collection structure the organizing principle. Check actual limits and localization against the current Webflow plans; do not treat an old item cap as universal.
Can Webflow handle structured content?
Yes. Collections and dynamic pages are core parts of its CMS. Compare the specific relationships, collection limits, and editing needs your project requires.
Custom implementationWinner: Craft CMS15-point priorityCraft gives the project direct control over templates, server behavior, and deployment.
Webflow Cloud supports application work, so the platform is more capable than a static builder. Even so, an August 2026 account from a healthcare B2B marketing team describes editing and infrastructure constraints that contributed to its departure. That is one implementation. It illustrates why we test real integrations and operating requirements before selecting a platform.
Security and supportTie15-point priorityBoth can remove routine technical work from the client when support is scoped properly.
Webflow handles its hosted platform. Craft can use Craft Cloud, and Mostly Serious support can cover hosting, maintenance, updates, staging, and application fixes. The business does not have to do this work itself. Compare access controls, recovery, response expectations, and ownership of integrations in both proposals; a hosting subscription and an application support agreement cover different responsibilities.
Lifetime valueWinner: Craft CMS10-point priorityCraft is our preferred long-term investment when the business needs substantial customization.
The comparison is a supported custom build on each platform. Include Webflow’s collaboration, localization, apps, security requirements, and ongoing design work alongside Craft development and support. Craft pricing is a small part of that decision. If Webflow meets the full brief with fewer workarounds, it may cost less; we would verify that with a scoped estimate.
Ecosystem confidenceWinner: Webflow10-point priorityWebflow has a broad design ecosystem and visible product investment.
Webflow’s current product releases give design-led teams useful options. Craft has a loyal specialist community and a published support horizon. We give Webflow this category for its accessible design ecosystem, while keeping product momentum separate from how well a marketing team can operate a particular site.
AI enablementWinner: Webflow15-point priorityWebflow combines native AI assistance with first-party developer connections.
Webflow AI and its MCP server cover content, design, and developer work. Craft’s MCP plugin and AI Assistant provide useful schema-aware development and editorial operations through third parties. Webflow wins integrated availability. Source, announced September 2, is a limited research preview and is not included in this score.
Planning a migration
Export available collection content and inventory static pages, assets, redirects, forms, interactions, and localization. Craft requires new templates and equivalent behavior. Confirm which exports are available on the existing plan and do not assume exported frontend code contains a working CMS.
Preserve useful URLs where possible. For changed paths, build and test a redirect map, transfer metadata, and monitor indexing and traffic after launch. Google's site-move guidance explains the process; search traffic can still fluctuate. Talk with us about planning a Craft project before committing.
Can we keep Webflow and use Craft for content?
A mixed architecture is possible, but evaluate how content reaches the pages, how previews work, and who maintains the integration. It should solve a concrete requirement.
