CoxHealth Launches New Responsive Website Crafted by Mostly Serious

CoxHealth, a five-hospital health system headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, recently launched a new responsive website at coxhealth.com
A local partnership
Mostly Serious, also headquartered in Springfield, began its partnership with CoxHealth after winning a competitive bid to redesign the website in May 2013.
“From the site redesign project’s conception, we knew we wanted to work with a local agency like Mostly Serious,” said CoxHealth Web Content Coordinator Stacy Fender.
“As partners, we were able to overcome some bumps in the road; for instance, partway through the project it became clear that our existing content management system wasn’t the answer long-term. Instead of building around it, we opted to have Mostly Serious implement a much more effective system, which was well worth the extra time spent.”
By choosing a modern CMS instead of forcing a legacy platform to fit, the team set CoxHealth up for easier day‑to‑day updates, better performance, and more flexibility as the health system’s digital needs grow.
About the project
Jarad Johnson, Mostly Serious President and Director of Design, led the interactive design for the new site.
“Building the interactive design for the features and pages of this site continually reminded our team about the monumental impact the CoxHealth site has on our community,” Johnson said.
Quick, simple search tools sit at the forefront of the design, helping visitors find doctors, locations, and services in just a few clicks.
The homepage highlights the most‑used functions of the site—such as paying a bill, accessing patient portals, and finding care—so patients and families can get where they need to go without hunting through dense navigation.
Behind the scenes, the site now runs on a flexible content management system that makes it easier for CoxHealth teams to keep information accurate across hundreds of pages as services, providers, and locations evolve.
“More than ever, our website is a valuable resource for members of the Springfield community who need information about everything from the conditions we treat to our many healthcare facilities to the services we offer,” Fender said.
“From routine procedures to initial diagnoses, our website can serve as an informational jumping‑off point to help visitors more comfortably make decisions about next steps.”
About Mostly Serious
Mostly Serious is a digital solutions studio that helps organizations plan, design, and build websites and products that actually get used.
The team partners with regional and national brands—including TLG Peterbilt and HOLLOWAY AMERICA—on projects that range from complex web applications to ecommerce experiences.
In addition to the CoxHealth website, Mostly Serious designed and developed the ecommerce platform for Give Ozarks Day, a one‑day fundraising event led by Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
For the second year in a row, the Give Ozarks site has helped raise more than $1 million during the 24‑hour campaign, bringing in $1.2 million for regional community organizations this past May.
Mostly Serious also recently overhauled the website for Springfield Community Gardens, making it easier for families to join urban gardens that help Springfield residents grow their own healthy food.
“We thrive on helping nonprofits help communities prosper,” Johnson said.
“It’s an honor to contribute to their causes and help them reach more volunteers or collaborate with other community‑focused organizations.”
