A Little More About Spencer
In March of 2008, Spencer wound down his senior year of college without a plan. An eleventh hour offer to continue his studies in graduate school set him on a five year path to a doctorate in Communication Studies and a career in post-secondary education.
As a teacher, Spencer taught undergraduate and graduate courses on persuasion, argumentation, leadership, and small group communication. As a researcher, Spencer studied the communication strategies of technologists and technophobes to understand how popular culture and technology worked together to create shared visions of the future. His work has been selected for multiple national awards and featured in multiple publications.
After nearly a decade as a teacher and researcher, Spencer decided to leave the classroom and find new challenges to tackle in the Springfield, MO business community. As a consultant, he discovered a new avenue for critical thinking and problem-solving as well as a new passion for helping others improve their organizations. Now, as Director of Operations for Mostly Serious, Spencer gets to do that every day while supporting a wonderful team (his words!).
In his free time, Spencer hangs with his wife and Shih Tzu, plays board and/or video games, and continues his seemingly endless quest to binge most of Netflix. He co-hosts a podcast (The Mixed Six) about beer, board games, and pop culture. He loves the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and is a Jayhawk for life. Rock Chalk (again, his words—as a company MS cannot, does not, and will not support this nonsense).
