CMS stands for content management system. A CMS is essentially a software application that most websites are built on that allows users to create and update website content without having to know how to code. Some common examples of this are WordPress, Craft CMS, and Drupal.
Your CMS is the foundation on which your whole website stands. If your CMS has issues, you may see it in slow load times, a bad mobile viewing experience, and even security vulnerabilities. A strong CMS results in a fast, secure website that is easy for your internal team and external users to navigate and engage with.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of making your website more visible to Google and other search engines. The purpose of SEO is to improve how high up your site shows in search results so your potential customers are more likely to find you. Many website factors matter in SEO, including the quality of your content, how well your site content is structured, and other technical data in that search engines read to know what information your site is sharing.
SEO is key for making sure people who are looking for what you offer can find you easily. It is a constantly moving target but ensuring the proper foundations are set on your website can make the longterm process much more effective. We will help you create a plan to rank higher in key topics that matter most to your business.
What do you look at in a SEO Audit?
Our SEO Audit ranges from the basics like whether or not your site is indexed (and findable) by Google and expands from there. We specifically explore three areas of SEO: technical, on-page, and content:
- Technical SEO looks at things on the backend of your website that affect SEO. This includes your sitemap, URL structure, site speed, mobile friendliness, and redirects, and 404 errors.
- On-page SEO is the more forward facing side of SEO. It primarily includes areas of content such as title tags, meta descriptions, alt text, as well things like internal and external links.
- Content SEO is essentially the words on your page. We'll dig deep into the content of up to five key pages on your site to look at areas including the heading structure of your content, content length, and quality to ensure you're meeting Google's Helpful Content guidelines.

Reach out to us using the form below or by emailing Jarad Johnson at jarad@mostlyserious.io to let us know you're interested in a CMS Health Check and/or an SEO Audit. We'll have a conversation to get to know you and your business a little bit and provide you a detailed scope of work outlining exactly what you will receive for your investment, alongside a timeline for all deliverables (typically 3-4 weeks).
Once we're ready to kick off, we'll ask you to complete a simple worksheet to provide us with the critical information we need to get started. And of course we'll need access to your digital properties like your CMS and Google Analytics so we can dig into the details.
Our team of experts will then follow an in-depth checklist to look for issues or other areas of improvement. You can think of it just like your vehicle's multipoint inspection at the shop. At the end, we'll provide you with a comprehensive report on all areas we looked into, noting any critical issues, areas that are in good shape, and suggestions for future improvements.
After that? That's up to you! We'd love the opportunity to continue our relationship and put our findings into action for you, but the detailed reports are yours to do whatever you would like with.
